Department Overview

Coordinator: Dr. Vivek Kumar

Institute of Legal Studies was established in the year 2003.  Institute is approved by the Honorable Bar Council of India, New Delhi. Institute Offers Research Program (Ph.D. in Law), Master of Laws (LL.M .2 year) & Bachelor Programs (LL.B. 3 years & B.A., LL.B. 5 years) to students seeking unmatched opportunities to study law in an innovative and collaborative environment. The curriculum has been designed to cater the present day needs by focusing on practical & theoretical understanding of law.  The Institute with its team of well qualified and experienced teachers provide thorough and in- depth training in various courses of law through its different programs.    Institute has various facilities like well-equipped Library, state of the art Seminar hall, ICT enabled Moot Court, Smart Class room, fully Wi Fi campus etc. The Alumni of   Institute are working in Judicial Services, Prosecution Departments, Law officers, Managers (Law), Higher Education Services, Advocates and Entrepreneurs.

Library

Institute of Legal Studies has well equipped library with number of textbooks, reference books, journals (AIR, SCC, Indian Bar Review etc), and many books covering the various aspects of the law along with the books of humanities. The library also has a collection of different magazines, social sciences books, current affairs and competitions books. English and Hindi newspapers are also available in the library.

E-resource Centre

Library also has e-resource centre with a subscription of various academic and research web portals like JSTOR, Open Journal Access System (OJAS), Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ), UGC - Infonet Digital Library consortium.

Moot Court

Institute has a moot court hall with all the advance technology. Regular moot court activities are organised by the Institute for the practical training of students.

For attaining the aim of contemporary teaching pedagogy all the modern facilities are available in the department.

Institute have a computer lab with high speed internet connectivity including LAN, Wi Fi. Institute has fully Wi Fi enabled campus.

Legal Service Centre

Legal Service Centre of Institute of legal studies is recognised by Uttar Pradesh State Legal Service Authority, Lucknow. Legal Service Centre provides free assistance to people, who are unable to access the court system and afford legal representation. Many legal aid programmes, awareness programs and outreach activities, Lokadalat visits, jail visits are organised by the Legal Service Centre.

Achievements

Institute is catering the Legal Education to the students of Western Uttar Pradesh. Institute has majority intake of students from rural background of Western Uttar Pradesh. Institute has the highest perception around the area. Institute is the most preferred legal education center in the area having highest application received for admission at various program run by it.

As the students of institute has been excelling in various filed. Dr. Yogendra Kumar has the honour of being appointed as Consultant (Legal) to the Honorable Governor of Maharastra.

Ms. Isha Chaudhary scored 26 rank in Provincial Civil Services, Civil Judge (Junior Division), Uttar Pradesh, 2018 along with her Ms Swetha Nain, Mrs Navjyoti, Ms Bindiya Bhatnagar also selected in same batch. Recently Ms Shally Nain scored 37 rank in Haryana Judicial Services Exam-2022. In previous years our students selected in different provincial Civil Services, Judicial Exam of various States. Many of our students are working with prosecution department of various States.             

In the year 2021 Mrs Sandeep Chauhan and Mrs Hemlata Tyagi selected in Higher Judicial Services, Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this many of our students were working with Higher Judicial Services of different States.

Along with Judicial Services many of our students progress to Higher Education and select Higher Education Service. Some of our students are working as Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and Research Associates in different Higher Education Institutions around the country.
